APOIO URGENTE À RECUPERAÇÃO DA COMUNIDADE E DA FLORESTA AUTÓCTONE APÓS INCÊNDIO DEVASTADOR

Somos um coletivo inter-geracional de 15 pessoas, dedicado a um modo de vida regenerativo num terreno de 36 hectares na Serra de Espinhaço de Cão, inserido em área protegida do Sudoeste Algarvio. No sítio da Corte Medronheira, o terreno que tem sido a nossa casa, coberto por uma vasta floresta de sobreiros, medronheiros e uma grande diversidade de plantas e animais, foi atingido por um incêndio de enorme dimensão que, em apenas três dias, consumiu mais de 50.000 hectares de floresta, incluindo a totalidade do nosso terreno. Perdemos toda a floresta, pomares e hortas que cuidávamos, grande parte das estruturas de habitação e apoio à agricultura, bem como 7 anos de investimento e trabalho, importantes meios de subsistência, memória e sonhos partilhados.

O fogo levou consigo um investimento em infra-estruturas avaliado em 175.000€, mas também o valor incalculável da biodiversidade perdida. Este lugar é um projeto comunitário e educativo de regeneração ecológica e social. Recuperar não é apenas reconstruir o que ardeu — é garantir que este espaço volta a ser um ecossistema vivo e resiliente.

O valor angariado será investido em 4 prioridades fundamentais para iniciar a recuperação:

1. Limpeza dos escombros – retirar destroços queimados e libertar o terreno para novas etapas.

2. Proteção do solo – mobilizar terras e organizar a biomassa ainda presente para evitar erosão e lixiviação.

3. Reconstrução das infraestruturas de base – restabelecer as condições mínimas de habitação, água e energia.

4. Reflorestação – lançar as bases para o renascimento da floresta autóctone e da biodiversidade.

O caminho é longo e cada contributo ajuda a transformar esta tragédia num processo de regeneração resiliente, permitindo que esta terra e comunidade renasçam das cinzas e recuperem a vida deste santuário.

URGENT SUPPORT FOR THE RECOVERY OF THE COMMUNITY AND THE NATIVE FOREST AFTER A DEVASTATING WILDFIRE

We are an intergenerational collective of 15 people, dedicated to a regenerative way of life on 36 hectares of land in the Serra de Espinhaço de Cão, within the protected area of Southwest Algarve. At Corte Medronheira, the land that has been our home—covered by a vast forest of cork oaks, strawberry trees, and a great diversity of plants and animals—was struck by a massive wildfire that, in just three days, consumed more than 50,000 hectares of forest, including all of our land. We lost the entire forest, orchards and gardens we had been tending, most of the housing and farming support structures, as well as 7 years of investment and work—essential means of livelihood, memory, and shared dreams.

The fire destroyed infrastructure valued at €175,000, but it also took with it the incalculable value of lost biodiversity. This place is a community and educational project for ecological and social regeneration. Recovery is not just about rebuilding what was burned—it is about ensuring this space once again becomes a living and resilient ecosystem.

The funds raised will be invested in 4 key priorities to begin recovery:

1. Clearing debris – removing burnt remains and freeing the land for new stages.

2. Soil protection – mobilizing earth and organizing the remaining biomass to prevent erosion and leaching.

3. Rebuilding essential infrastructure – restoring the minimum conditions for housing, water, and energy.

4. Reforestation – laying the foundations for the rebirth of the native forest and biodiversity.

The path ahead is long, but every contribution helps transform this tragedy into a process of resilient regeneration, allowing this land and community to rise from the ashes and restore the life of this sanctuary.
