Hello I am Luis Alejandro a teacher at San Ysidro High School

The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise enough funds to rename the football stadium at San Ysidro High School to Hector Espinoza Stadium.

Mr. Espinoza is the founding principal of San Ysidro High School and we (faculty, parents, alumni and friends) would like to honor Mr. Espinoza with this small gesture of appreciation.

Hector Espinoza Stadium at San Ysidro is the ideal way to root the new field in the history and tradition of the school while honoring the person who led the school from its conception. As the founding principal of the school, Hector Espinoza started serving the community before the first shovel was put in the ground to build the school. Hector Espinoza was the founding principal and served as principal from 2002 to 2016. Mr. Espinoza directed the construction of the facilities in 2001 until the opening of the school in 2002.

In faculty meetings, gatherings with families, and informal conversations, he would recall walking the grounds where San Ysidro High School now stands and finding a den of rattlesnakes where his office would later be built. This story illustrates the beauty and spirit of the San Ysidro community. It was up to the people who called San Ysidro home to root out the dangers inherit in any community and to build something better in it place.

The score board of the football stadium and the stadium press box /snack bar will bear his name.

As future generations of Cougars pour into the the Hector Espinoza Stadium asking why it bears his name, the story of his leadership will be told. Like a torch, the unwavering courageous spirit he helped create will be passed down from class to class.
