Renae Rice's Final Expenses

Donation protected
Hi Everyone!  Most of you have probably already heard...my brother, Wayne Rice, and his wife, Renae Rice, were involved in a really terrible car accident last Friday, March 27th where they were T-boned & their truck flipped several times.  Miraculously, Wayne only received some minor bumps & bruises.

Unfortunately, Renae's condition is very critical.  She was air lifted from the accident to the hospital & has currently undergone 6 surgeries since late Friday night.  Her last surgery was yesterday & we're hopeful that's the last one that she'll need.  She suffered several broken bones which include her femur, elbow, along with broken ribs & bruised lung.  She also had a very bad head injury, but out of respect of both Wayne & Renae, we won't go into detail on those.

Luckily, all of her organs & brain activity are good & show no signs of damage.  They initially thought that she would lose vision in her left eye, but the doctors now are 90% sure that she'll be able to keep her vision.  They won't know for sure until she wakes up & says if whether or not she can see.

She is currently in a medically induced coma.  The doctors told Wayne today that she's beginning to stir & they are expecting her to wake up within the next couple of days.  We are thankful that she's had this time to rest so that she's not in pain & also so that she's able to be still in order for her incisions to heal as much as possible before she's up & moving again.

Renae is probably one of the strongest women that we all know.  Just her strength in what she's been through in the last week alone shows what a fighter she truly is!  The doctors have indicated that she has a long road of recovery ahead & it will take some time before she is back to normal.

The reason for this fundraiser is because we know that there are a great amount of things that she'll need.  We know this is at a terrible time with everyone unsure of the world we're in right now because of the virus.  Wayne has been furloughed & isn't able to work.  We are working to get his application submitted for unemployment, but their website isn't working.  I'm sure it's because they have such a tremendous amount of people that are trying to apply.

Wayne & Renae are going to have to move from where they currently live because they live in an efficiency type apartment that's older.  It's not easy for her to get in & out of, and will not accommodate a wheelchair...so it's just not handicap accessible.

Wayne has found a place that he can move them into on April 15th.  It's a ground level apartment with our Mom that will be the best place for Renae to heal & recover.  What their immediate need is a bed.  Wayne & Renae currently live in a furnished apartment, so they don't really have any of the furniture that they'll need.  Fortunately, our Mom has her furniture, but they won't have anything for their room.   We aren't sure how the medical equipment & supplies work, so we don't know if the hospital would be providing a wheel chair or the things that she'll need for the bathroom.  I know those things can be expensive.  Hopefully, they will be provided, but we'll continue to work with the case manager at the hospital to find out.

Any help that is raised is truly appreciated.  There is literally no amount that is too small.  We know that Wayne & Renae have a lot of friends that love & care about them.  Some of you have already reached out to see how you can help.  I guess with the initial shock, we just hadn't really thought of what they would need.  But this is where they need help.

We'd also ask you to say a little extra prayer for both Wayne & Renae.  Prayers are powerful & God can work miracles.  With Him all things are possible.  Please pray for continued strength & healing for Renae & for the doctors & medical team that are working so vigorously with her.  They have worked so hard & made assessments on her condition very quickly.  We know that they are putting their lives on the line just by going to work.  We've been so fortunate to have mainly positive updates so far.  We pray that they stay that way.

We'd also like to ask for prayers for Wayne.  He's having a hard time, but it's especially difficult since he's not able to be with her right now since the hospital is on lock down.  They aren't allowing visitors especially in ICU, but we're praying that he will be able to be with her when she wakes up.  So far he's only been able to see her once for a few minutes on Saturday.  So please, please, please pray for them & pray for Wayne to be strong for Renae.  Friends, if you're able to contribute to their cause it will be so very appreciated!  They need all of the help that we can raise for them.
