Rena Gibson - Love You to The Moon and Back

Dear Family, Friends, and Compassionate Individuals who understand the journey to fighting cancer with a Loved one,
My mom is Rena Gibson. She is currently 77 years old and was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the end of November 2018. Her cancer began in the gallbladder and has spread to her liver.
The prognosis is that there is no cure, and this is an aggressive cancer,. BUT we know there is a much Higher Power than science and we’ve been trusting “God” to care for us through this journey.
This truly has been a life-changing moment in our lives, but again knowing there is a higher power who provides Mercy and Grace has been a true test of our faith.
The best news through this life altering experience is that my mom is responding to chemotherapy. Her tumor markers are declining and side effects from chemotherapy have been manageable. Again, nothing But “God’s" grace has allowed this blessing.
My mom began chemotherapy on December 12, 2018. Her current treatment cycle is 1 week on and 1 week off. She receives chemotherapy locally here at CCI, but we are also obtaining medical care with MD Anderson in Houston, TX. MD Anderson is ranked as the number one cancer hospital in the US.
My family owns a home here in Madison, AL. A few years after my father passed away in 2008, my mother decided to rent the home to cope with the devastation of loosing my father. We were fortunate to find excellent renters, but we were informed this week that our renter’s have purchased a home and will be moving out at the end of May. This is another unexpected financial obstacle for us to overcome. We will be breaking our current lease and moving back into our family home at the end of May.
I’ve decided to launch a Go Fund Me campaign to help with the expenses we are accruing. My mom’s annual deductible to receive her chemo treatments at CCI is $6,700; current medical expenses from MD Anderson are $2,000; and upcoming moving expenses .
Each time we will visit MD Anderson (every 6 to 8 weeks) we will incur airfare expenses, hotel expenses, and transportation expenses.
We sincerely as a family (Rena Gibson, Scott Gibson, and myself) appreciate all the prayers, outreach with phone calls, gifts, and meals thus far to help support us through this incredible journey.
Any donation that is offered will truly be a blessing to my mom and our gratitude as a family will forever be in our hearts.
