Remy, one of our family dogs, escaped her kennel and ran away after being spooked by some fireworks set off in our neighborhood on June 4th, 2022. She was on the run since late that night with family, friends, and neighbors searching high and low for her. Finally, over 2 weeks later, she was found, but would not come to Shane. This was very out of character for her, but given how thin she looked and she was limping with her back leg in the air, it's understandable how scared she must have been.
Finally, on Monday, June 20th, she was seen in someone's yard. They posted on social media, we were immediately tagged in the post, and we rushed over to pick up our girl! She was FINALLY home safe, but not out of the woods.
We took her to the vet the next day, where they took x-rays and found she has a dislocated hip and knee on her back leg, and fractures in her front paw on the same side. The injuries are consistent with being sideswiped by a car most likely, and looked to be about 2 weeks old at the time of the images. The scar tissue that has built up over that time leaves limited options to get her fixed up.
We are sending referrals from our vet to specialists to get costs and appts set up for surgery to get her hip stabilized and the knee and paw both fixed as well. Right at this moment, most are booked to at LEAST the end of July without referrals.
While we have been working hard to get Remy the help she needs, many people have reached out asking for updates and how they can help. We started a go fund me at the amazing amount of recommendations from friends and neighbors to get a job start on her medical bills. We appreciate everyone caring for our pup so much! We still do NOT have a definite number for how much surgery will cost, but that will be updated when we have more answers. Thank you, again, to everyone who has helped and want to help our girl! ❤️
Our goal is to get her back to her favorite hobbies, including intense games of fetch and finishing the 46 peaks with my husband.
