UPDATE (7/6): See the Updates section below for more info!

George Floyd. Breonna Taylor. Ahmaud Arbery. Elijah McClain. Oluwatoyin “Toyin” Salau. Riah Milton. Dominique “Rem’Mie” Fells. Rayshard Brooks. Eric Garner. Trayvon Martin. Too many others. Say their names. Learn their stories.
Police brutality and racial injustice cannot be ignored. We must keep this movement going. We must continually challenge ourselves and each other to check our prejudices, to practice active allyship, to amplify Black voices – to be better. I know I have a lot to learn.
For my birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to the following racial justice groups and Black advocacy organizations (you can choose where you want your donation to go to!):
ACLU Foundation*
Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation
Brennan Center for Justice
Equal Justice Initiative
Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law
NAACP
NAACP Legal Defense Fund
National Bar Institute
National Museum of African American History and Culture
National Urban League*
Thurgood Marshall College Fund
United Negro College Fund
Year Up*
*Donations to local chapters will also be matched.
My employer will match donations 100% to the organizations listed above. In addition, I will match the first $500 that is donated. Even if we barely know each other or haven’t spoken in a while, if you are able to, please consider donating – this is an opportunity to make your donation count twice (or 4x) as much!
When you make your donation, please text/Facebook message with the name(s) of the organizations(s) you would like your donation to go to (for some reason GoFundMe comments aren't working right now). I will cover the processing fees associated with GoFundMe fundraisers to ensure your full donation is matched.
To meet my employer's match deadline, this fundraiser will be open until July 4. I will post final numbers and receipts when the fundraiser is over!
Black Lives Matter. Feel free to share this fundraiser with your friends and family - let’s do what we can to show our support!
