Picture it! May 2015, 7 holes later and 80% less stomach my weight loss journey started. At the age of 25 I was pushing 400 pounds (I weighed 393 pounds the day of my surgery) I had a hard time walking up the steps, bending over to tie my shoes, sleeping, and many other things. I was afraid that I would not see the age of 30. That fear is what made me decide to take control of my life and have weight loss surgery. The yo-yo diets, and doctor controlled diets just didn't work. I knew that something more had to be done. Fast forward almost two years and I have lost almost 200 pounds and I am in the best health that I have ever been in, in my entire life. I've ran several 5k's (had you told me that two years ago I would have looked at you like you were crazy!) I've also been fortunate enough to share my journey with a lot of people around the world, who like me were scared and took control of their life.
The one thing however, I was not prepared for was the amount of skin that was going to be left after losing the weight. I was told "you're young enough, it'll snap back." Well friends, while a lot of it did retract, I am still eft with a lot of skin that just hangs there. When your skin it stretched out for so long, it loses its elasticity which prevents it from snapping back.
However, body contouring is something that I need because now the excess skin is starting to get in the way of living my day to day life.
I've saved quite a bit of money to have the surgery, however was denied by the insurance company to cover any added expenses associated with a cyst that has formed in my bellybutton (which is causing the price of the surgery to go up) so I am falling short of my goal. As most of you know I am not one to ever ask for anything, but I need your help now. I want to complete this weight loss journey and move on with the next chapter in my life. I want to look forward to spending the rest of my life without having to worry "is my skin tucked in, in all the right places"?
I can't thank you all enough for supporting me during the past two years, and I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this! With your help, I can move forward with the surgery to complete what I set out to do almost two years ago. My surgery is scheduled for April 3rd, so time is running short (thanks insurance company) and I hope to be able to keep that date set. With your help, that will be a possibility!
Thank you ALL!!!!
