There is a Confederate monument in front of the Caldwell County Courthouse in Lockhart, TX. After a successful petition and court appearance, the Caldwell County Commissioner's Court is considering our proposal to relocate the monument - either to the Caldwell County Museum or to the cemetery at Lockhart City Park.
Our chances our looking very good, but it is very likely that we are going to have to raise the funds to move the monument completely on our own. Texas State removed theirs for about $8K and we got a quote for under that! Please help us raise the funds and spread the word so we can create a positive change in our community! We can't do it alone!
All left over funds will be donated to Where We Thrive, a local non-profit whose mission is to help rebuild and restore, mentor, and develop local communities who are occupied by poor and under privileged citizens including at risk youth and disadvantaged elderly.
