Removal of infected ear canal

Aziahs update.

Yesterday, Monday 21st August Aziah had his operation to fully remove his ear canal. Everything went well and the vets have managed to remove all of the swollen and infected tissue. I picked him up this afternoon. He was happy to see me, and since we've been home he has slept and followed me everywhere. Thank you all again, I appreciate all your support in helping us get to this stage so soon and for aziah to soon be out of constant pain xxx

Hi My name's Lindsay and this is Aziah.. He’s my 6 year old fur baby, and my best friend. He needs a full ear canal removal, costing around £4800, which I unfortunately cannot afford. His insurance will not, and has not covered any treatment of his ear for a very long time.

After various tests and courses of antibiotics and steroids, 3 different vets, I finally found out in July of 2022, that he has a bacterial infection called pseudomonas in his right ear. He’s had his ear flushed twice, the last time was on Monday 3rd July 2023, costing another £808 and an X-ray showed the ear canal and bulla to be severely swollen and resistant to even the strongest antibiotics and steroids that he’s been taking, as they are no longer helping to fight the bacteria or reduce the swelling.. Having exhausted all other options, I was given the devastating news and options of, very expensive surgery or euthanasia, with the second not even being an option to me.

Aziah is not just a dog, he is my best friend and my rock, literally, my everything. He is my biggest support, and has been my reason to get up out of bed through my darkest times in life. Helping me through grief, trauma, heartbreak and lockdown.  

Euthanasia is not an option, so I need to get him this operation, through any means I can, that’s why I’m asking for help, because he needs this operation, so that he’s no longer in constant pain. In every other way, he’s full of life, and loves the outdoors. He loves going hiking, swimming, cuddles, going to the beach and is obsessed with his boomer ball.
