Our director, Lucy Rast lost her father, Fredy, in November last year to a rare brain tumour. Fredy was warm-hearted, nurturing, and deeply empathetic - the kind of person who always took time to listen to others. When Fredy was in the hospital, he often thought he was in familiar, meaningful places from the past rather than in the hospital. This inspired her to create a film exploring her grief, which moments truly endure and why certain experiences leave a lasting mark, both in Fredy’s life and in all of ours.
To reconnect with her father and explore her grief, she will be cycling approximately a 200-mile journey (an activity that Lucy and her father used to bond over, forming core childhood memories for Lucy). Lucy will embark on a personal reflection about navigating this new chapter in her life, what gives life its true meaning and, ultimately, her grief. Lucy will also be exploring the people and places in Switzerland that shaped Fredy’s life through interviews with those who knew and loved him. The dominant theme in this film is a journey, not just literally but metaphorically.
The fundraising will go towards flights, car hire, petrol, accommodation, equipment cost, food and other production costs.
We are committed to donating 50% of money raised over our fundraising target to the Brain Tumour Charity. Please help us realise our heartfelt documentary by sending this Go Fund Me to everyone you know x
