Lisa Maarek is a Miami - based based screenwriter and director. She was born in Paris and moved to the cultural melting pot of Miami at 3 years old. Being born in Paris has allowed her to grow up with a strong appreciation for the arts, especially with filmmaking. Her short film, Reminiscence, delves into themes of navigating nostalgia, familial support, and internal growth. Using aspects of surrealism and 1960s French "New Wave" editing techniques, she intends for this short to speak to the audience's feelings of longing to their childhood past and learning the art of letting go.
