Hi everyone, my name's Nate and
we are reaching out to ask for your support for our daughter, Remi. She is 3 years old, full of life, and is currently navigating the challenges that come with a diagnosis of microcephaly. Remi is a strong little girl, but because she doesn’t have many words yet, she often faces a lot of frustration. When she can’t communicate what she needs or feels overwhelmed, she screams, hits herself in the face or bangs her head on the ground. As parents, it is heartbreaking to see her struggle to express herself and to worry every second about her hurting herself. We are currently working with the specialists at Hamilton Health Sciences to get Remi a custom-made Cranial Orthotic device. This isn't just about her development—it is a vital piece of safety equipment. It will protect her head during those moments of frustration and give us the peace of mind to let her explore, play, and learn as she grows.
The Goal
The total cost for Remi’s custom device is $2,978. While we are very grateful that the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) covers $2,233.50, we are responsible for the remaining $744.50 out-of-pocket.
We have set our goal at $1,200 to cover:
The direct invoice: $744.50 for the device.
Travel & Care: Helping with the costs of frequent trips from Brantford to Hamilton for fittings and follow-up adjustments.
Communication Support: Any extra funds will go directly toward speech therapy resources to help Remi find ways to communicate so she doesn't have to feel so frustrated.
