On Christmas Day, Michael "The Hebrew Hammer" Nelson, succomed to his life long battle with depression.
A memorial gathering will be held for him at American Brew 3700 Shore Drive Virginia Beach, VA 23454 at 7 pm on Monday January 2, 2017.
Michael had an infectious smile and the sense of humor that only someone who has survived darkness can have. He had a way of making you always want to be around him. His selflessness made you feel like you were never doing enough for others and he loved with his whole heart. If you had the pleasure of meeting Michael, your life was changed for the better.

Not only was Michael's heart big, his creative genius was even bigger. His company, Hammer & Fox Home Furnishings, at only 2 years old had filled so many peoples' homes and businesses with beautiful, one of a kind pieces. His eye for design was natural and unwavering. He prided himself in maintaining a veteran owned and operated business, hiring on those recently departed from the military and giving them a jump start on returning to civilian life.

As a former Seabee in the US Navy, Michael spent a tour in Iraq defending his country and making life long friends along the way. Near the end of his tour, his convoy hit an IED and he suffered a tramatic brain injury (TBI). Even through the pain of constant migrains, seizures, and PTSD, he never felt worthy of assistance. He thought there was always someone who deserved the help more than he did.

Michael loved to give back to his community and was very passionate about helping veterans. We will be donating all proceeds to local charities that will honor Michael's memory while helping the same causes he was passionate about while he was alive.
