Remembering Tracy's Kind and Caring Spirit

Hello my name is Karianne. I am the daughter of Tracy Flores. My mother was a caring and bright soul who worked three jobs and in the beginning of November went to the hospital for stomach cramping. Little did she know she had stage four stomach cancer with metastasis to her entire liver, lymph nodes, and lower lung. This news was a complete shock to her and my entire family as she had worked that same day she went to the hospital. My mother had a medical assistance program as her “insurance” that uses third party advocates to cover their clients medical bills. She was paying over $400 a month and my family had to cover a 5k deductible with the promise that “everything would be covered”. Not living with my mom I didn’t know she wasn’t on “real insurance” and once finding out I was going to help my mom get onto open enrollment insurance coverage. Her program stated they covered oncologists in network but once she made an urgent appointment to see them with a referral from her primary they denied her and stated the claim had been closed with no real way of appealing or explanation as to why they denied her. With the timing of the Thanksgiving holiday coming up we rushed my mom to the oncologist and paid out of pocket for her visit and blood work. We have reached out to donation programs but since she never received chemo or immunotherapy the donations only cover active cancer treatments so we do not know if any of this will be reimbursed. I am a full time ER nurse and have vowed to work overtime to help my dad, my mother’s husband of almost 40 years, cover these expenses and manage life without the small income that my mom was bringing in. I am making this gofundme in hopes that we can alleviate some of the costs of out of pocket hospice, cremation, and medical bills as my mother got scammed and denied by her medical share program when she needed care the most. If she had been able to see the oncologist sooner she might still be here. She was the most kind person and would literally give the shirt off her back to keep others warm. She gave to those in need when she didn’t have enough for herself because that was the kind of person she was. She cared for animals and would save stray dogs and cats off the street and keep them until their owners were found. She worked back office pediatrics for years and then became a medical transcriptionist. Her most recent job was working front desk at a chiropractic office where she adored all of the patients who came in and built friendships with so many. She was a beautiful singer and blessed so many with her angelic voice at karaoke over the years. She helped raised me to be the nurse, partner, sister, and daughter I am today and she was so proud of my brother and I. She raised us to be patient and kind and I am forever grateful to her and I miss her so. My grandma has been helping my family during this hard time and has been such a great support but she is suffering the grief and loss of her daughter. I hate to burden anyone with this family trauma but I am asking for any help at this time of need for my family to continue on without the strong mother who held our family together for so many years. She was only 63 years old when she passed but her wisdom and love will last a lifetime.
