Shared tribute by Kristina Johnson:
Though I am still reeling from the sudden death of my very dear friend Tori Fennell, I am humbled and forever touched by her time here with us. For those of you who don’t know me I am Tori’s coworker and very close friend. When I think of her all I can see is that smile. She had a smile that would light up an entire room. Tori was the type of friend who was always ready to go anywhere, anytime. She never turned down the chance to meet new people, go shopping, travel, have her favorite drink or eat her favorite food which was always dessert. Tori loved her family; her mother and nephews were her entire world. Tori’s love for people spilled over in her professional life as well which is why her compassion, dedication, and love for those she cared for always left a lasting impression.
To lose a friend is the greatest of all losses. Its like that of a limb, time may heal the anguish of a wound, but the loss cannot be repaired. I am so thankful God brought Tori into my life. Her memory, her love for life and our friendship I will cherish forever. Until we see one another again my dear friend. Your fellow Nurses will take it from here.
Obituary for Ms. Tori M. Fennell
On August 18, 2021, we lost one of our angels. Tori Markita Fennell passed away at the age of 36 years following a courageous battle with Covid-19. Throughout her battle with this devastating disease, Tori was surrounded by her closest loved ones, which include Andre Fennell, her mother Robin Spann, her sister Shamika Spann, her brother Richard Spann, and perhaps her favorite person in the world, her nephew Richard Spann, known as Papa.
Tori was born in Killeen, Texas on April 7th, 1985, but she spent most of her life in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She graduated from Terry Sanford High School and then attended Fayetteville State University to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Her motivation, empathy, and altruistic nature inspired her to become an amazing nurse, as well as a loving and compassionate human being.
Tori was always known as the life of the party with the loudest laugh in the room. Her burgundy red hair helped her stand out in every room despite being the shortest one. Tori was always happiest when surrounded by those that she loved, even if it was just a small family gathering to reminisce about childhood stories. In her free time, she loved to design homemade crafts, such as mirrors and lamps. Her personality and laugh could fill an entire room. Tori will be lovingly remembered by every person that she encountered, and her unexpected death will serve as a reminder to live life to the fullest and cherish every moment with loved ones. Tori is survived by Andre, Robin, Shamika, Richard, Papa, Layla, and countless others with whom she crossed paths.
All funds collected will be presented to Tori's mother, Robin Spann.
