Remembering Tia Maldanado
Donation protected
Tia was a sister, a mother, a friend, a teacher and an advocate. She was a person who cared deeply for people that she loved and was an outspoken advocate for her family and her students. Tia touched and mended many hearts and we are sad to have lost such a light in all of our lives.
The eldest in a family of seven, Tia was the glue that held her family together after separation. She made sure her siblings kept in touch and were taken care of. Forgiving and kindhearted by nature, Tia worked the majority of her life taking care of her brothers, sisters, and mother. She poured her love of caring for people into her job, as an educator at CICS Longwood Middle School. Tia was a fierce advocate for students and ensured they had everything they needed to be successful. She was a constant source of motivation and encouraged students to look beyond their circumstances and rise above it.
Tragically, on Sunday May 16th, Tia was killed in a shooting on Milwaukee's West side, while visiting friends in the city. She leaves behind three children and a devastated family.
Tia is described by her family as "funny, smart and a constant source of motivation....", a "helper"... "a mother in a form of [a] sister.."
"Thirty-six years isn't enough for how much giving back she's done to the world".
The funds collected for this GoFundMe will go directly to Tia's funeral and memorial services. No donation is too small. All help is appreciated!
Please continue to keep Tia's family in your thoughts and prayers.
