I do not even know the words to write. On Tuesday, October 15th, at 2 AM, we tragically lost my dad and stepmother in a sudden home explosion caused by what is believed to have been propane gas.

Their house is completely gone, described by neighbors as if a bomb had gone off. In the wake of this unimaginable loss, we have no documentation, no important documents to go off of, and literally have rummaged through debris trying to find things. We truly feel utterly lost, and are left with an overwhelming sense of emptiness. The pain is indescribable, and it feels surreal—like something out of a movie. The community of Sidney, Ohio has warmed our hearts with the love shown in this tragedy. We will be having a memorial in Ohio for both dad and Sherry and then bringing them home to Staunton Virginia to be laid to rest with our grandfather. Our grandmother is still alive in Sidney and our father was her sole caregiver as he was an only child. There are so many unknowns at this time and we hope our dad is looking down and knowing how loved he was. With having no paperwork, it will most likely be months to a year before anything is determined or settled.
