Remembering Tesfit Haile
Donation protected
Our beloved Tesfit Haile passed Sunday October 3rd, 2021 after years of fighting his prolonged illness. He was surrounded by his wife of 41 years Haregu Ghebremicael, and his three children Sewit, Rahel and Sara.
Born in Eritrea, Tesfit moved to the U.S. and settled in New York in 1973. In his nearly five decades in the United States, he became known in our vast Eritrean community as a prominent member of the Eritreans for Liberation in North America (EFLNA) and a voice of strength and reason throughout the independence movement. For those that knew him, Tesfit was the embodiment of kindness, honesty, and patience. Above all, he had a tremendous love and devotion for his immediate and extended family. He was truly the best dad, friend, and patriarch to the Haile family, and the loss his entire community feels is immense. May he rest in eternal peace.
For those unable to be with the Haile family or would like to know how you can support them at this time, please consider contributing to this fundraiser. The family is forever grateful for the love and support so many of you have shown and continue to show during this trying time. If you can attend, the funeral information is as follows:
