Remembering Sofia: A Selfless Life of Love

There are truly no words to describe how strong and incredible of a woman Sofia was. Her life began in Mexico, caring for her family from such a young age. Her whole life revolved around caring for others as she was a maternal figure to her 8 younger siblings, a caring wife to her husband, a mother to her 3 children, and a loving grandmother to her 4 grandchildren. She was always a hard working individual from a young age and continued this hard work as she began her life here in the US at the age of 24. From then on she started her journey being a wife, mother and grandmother, while also fulfilling the role of being an amazing daughter, friend, cousin, aunt, and more. She was truly the definition of selfless as she always prioritized the wellbeing of those around her. She always made sure everyone around her was safe and loved. Through every moment of her life she ensured the people around her had a smile on their face.

In her last year of life, she went through one of her toughest battles, breast cancer. She went through with what felt like endless rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. On December 2nd, just before her last appointment for her radiation treatment, she suffered from a seizure that led her to be hospitalized for the remainder of the year. After tests were completed, it was found that she had a small tumor in her brain that required an extraction surgery, which soon got done and she was able to recover from. She amazed us yet again with her strength. We got to experience her sassy yet beautiful personality one last time during her recovery. However, she unfortunately had a number of unforeseen life threatening complications which eventually led to her passing.

Our family is torn as we are beginning to comprehend that this beautiful individual is no longer in our physical world anymore.

She was the most loving, caring, and funniest person my family has ever known. She brought endless smiles and laughter to whoever she was around and was truly the light in my family’s life. Those who knew her know that she was incredible and had a remarkable impact on the lives she touched. Her kind heart will be remembered by many and will forever live inside of us. Her ability to continuously put a smile on everyone's faces taught us the importance of facing hardships with grace. Despite all of the adversity she faced throughout her life, she never once lost her spark and maintained the same strength that carried her throughout life. Her memory will forever remain a source of inspiration for all of us.

Our family is asking for help from donations to be able to fund her memorial, medical expenses, as well as other needs for her husband during his time of grief. Any contribution, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated from us and will help us honor her legacy and be able to put our beautiful angel to rest.

Celebrando una vida de amor y fortaleza:

Realmente no hay palabras para describir lo fuerte e increíble que era Sofia. Su vida comenzó en México, cuidando a su familia desde muy joven. Su vida giró en torno al cuidando a los demás, ya que fue una figura materna para sus 8 hermanos menores, una esposa cariñosa para su esposo, una madre para sus 2 hijos e hija y una abuela amorosa para sus 4 nietas. Siempre fue una persona trabajadora desde una edad temprana y continuó este arduo trabajo cuando comenzó su vida aquí en los EE. UU. a la edad de 24 años. A partir de entonces, comenzó su vida siendo esposa, madre y abuela, al mismo tiempo que cumplía el papel de ser una increíble hija, amiga, prima, tía y más. Era realmente la definición de desinteresada, ya que siempre priorizó el bienestar de quienes la rodeaban. Siempre se aseguró de que todos a su alrededor estuvieran bien y fueran amados. En cada momento de su vida, se aseguró de que las personas a su alrededor tuvieran una sonrisa en su rostro. 

En su último año de vida, pasó por una de sus batallas más duras, el cáncer de mama. Pasó por lo que parecieron rondas interminables de tratamientos de quimioterapia y radiación. El dia dos de Diciembre, antes de su última cita para su tratamiento de radiación, sufrió una convulsión que la llevó a ser hospitalizada por el resto del año. Después de que se completaron las pruebas, se descubrió que tenía un pequeño tumor en el cerebro que requirió una cirugía de extracción, que pronto se realizó y pudo recuperarse. Nos sorprendió una vez más con su fuerza. Pudimos disfrutar su radiante personalidad por última vez durante su recuperación. Sin embargo, desafortunadamente tuvo una serie de complicaciones imprevistas que amenazaron su vida y que finalmente la llevaron a fallecer. 

Nuestra familia está destrozada empezando a comprender que este hermoso individuo ya no está en nuestro mundo físico. 

Era la persona más cariñosa, amorosa, y divertida que nuestra familia ha conocido. Trajo sonrisas y risas infinitas a quienquiera que estuviera cerca de ella y fue realmente la luz en la vida de nuestra familia. Quienes la conocieron saben que era increíble y que tuvo un impacto notable en las vidas que tocó. Su buen corazón será recordado por muchos y vivirá para siempre dentro de nosotros. Su capacidad para poner continuamente una sonrisa en los rostros de todos nos enseñó la importancia de enfrentar las dificultades con gracia. A pesar de todas las adversidades a las que se enfrentó a lo largo de su vida, nunca perdió su chispa y mantuvo la misma fuerza que la llevó durante toda la vida. Su recuerdo siempre será una fuente de inspiración para todos nosotros. 

Nuestra familia está pidiendo ayuda de donaciones para poder financiar su funeral, gastos médicos, y otras necesidades para su esposo durante su tiempo de dolor. Cualquier contribución, por pequeña que sea, es profundamente apreciada por nuestra parte y nos ayudará a honrar su legado y poder poner a nuestra hermosa ángel a descansar.
