Sheldon, our beloved orange Tabby cat, passed away at the age of thirteen after a sudden illness. He was more than just a cat, he was a loyal companion, and a cherished member of our family.
We first found Sheldon as a kitten in a cardboard box with his companion Fuzz in a StaterBros parking lot. We took them both in, never imagining how deep our connection would grow. Sheldon had the most chill personality ever seen in a cat, and over the years, he became a beloved member of our family.
As Sheldon grew up, we saw his love and loyalty for us grow as well. He was my best friend and watched me grow from a boy to a young adult. Sheldon even became friends with many of my friends and was loved by everyone who met him. Even people who didn't consider themselves to be "cat people" loved Shelly. The amount of Sheldon art around my apartment from friends is astounding. From pictures of him that friends and family would send to me, to the canvases on my walls depicting this little orange ball of love, he was truly loved by so many people. He was an extraordinary cat who left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Over the past week, Sheldon's health rapidly declined, and we took him to the vet. I noticed that Sheldon wasn't eating or drinking, and at the same time not going potty. He began to feel lethargic and I could see that his stomach was bloating and yet there was extra skin dangling from his limbs. After taking him to the vet last Saturday (4/29), the doctor told me that his kidneys were failing and that fluid was filling inside him, encompassing his failing heart. There wouldn't be any possible treatment for my baby.
Painfully, it was decided that Sheldon had reached the end of his journey. Last night, Sunday, April 30th, at 8:29 pm, my best friend, my companion, my little boy Sheldon was laid to rest. After spending an entire day with him outside at the places he loved the most, he went to sleep very peacefully.
Sheldon will always hold a special place in our hearts as a beaming ray of light. We are devastated by his loss and need your help to cover the unexpected $1500 vet bill. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated in honor of our beloved Sheldon. Thank you for your kindness and support during this difficult time.
