#RememberingRuel
In Loving Memory of Ruel DeJesus
On Monday morning, March 30th, 2020, our beloved Ruel passed away after a battle against Covid-19.
Ruel has always been a fighter: After spending years of receiving dialysis treatments and falling ill from Diabetes and End-Stage Renal Disease, Ruel had a second chance at life in January 2018 when he was blessed with a kidney match and a successful kidney transplant procedure at NYU Langone.
Ruel’s vibrant personality will surely be missed by all who knew him. He generously brought laughter and cheer and was always the life of the party. Ruel was a great friend, a father figure to many of us, and always considered everyone he met and knew as part of his own family.
We are all truly saddened by his sudden and tragic passing and the entire family is devastated that they weren’t able to be by his side during his last moments to fully say goodbye. We hope to give Ruel the proper memorial service when appropriate to honor and celebrate his life.
Your prayers, support, and gestures of thoughtfulness have made our hearts feel lighter as we find peace and healing during this extremely difficult time of bereavement.
We are tremendously grateful for the healthcare team at NYU Langone for providing the best care to our beloved Ruel throughout his journey.
Ruel is lovingly remembered by his wife (Cynthia) and his children (Cherry Lynn and Rainier).
Please feel welcome to share any memories and messages for Ruel and The DeJesus family on this page.
We love you, Papa.
