It is with great sadness that I bring you the news of the passing of Ramon Santiago Navarro. Ramon passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, after a lengthy battle with complications due to bladder cancer. We wish not to mourn his passing, but to celebrate his vivacious spirit for life.
Ramon was born in the Philippines in 1934 and came to America when he was 15 years old. Shortly after coming to the United States, he served in the US Air Force Reserves, a position in which he continued to hold for over 30 years. He worked as a draftsman in the aerospace industry and, later in life, became a school bus driver. He was forced to retire early in life due to the onset of dementia. Through all of this, he remained happy and positive and continued to live in service of others. He was an active parishioner of Santiago de Compostela Catholic Church in Lake Forest, California. He held the esteemed position of 4th Degree Color Guard Knight as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He spent countless hours helping the Hospitality and Eucharistic Ministry divisions of the church. He even volunteered every week for the last 10 years at the very hospital he passed away in. Ramon truly had a servant’s heart. He lived a humble and modest life, but he was blessed with the riches of love from his surviving children and grandchildren.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Ramon had only a small plan conceived for his passing, but he did wish to be laid to rest with his mother. The family asks that you consider donating to his GoFundMe account to assist them in covering the various costs related to his passing. A donation in lieu of flowers is preferred, and any donation amount is truly appreciated.
God bless you all for your love, support, and generosity.
