With profound sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Rafael “Ralphy / Mr. B” Bencosme—a man whose life was a testament to love, sacrifice, and the quiet power of everyday greatness.

For those who knew Ralphy, you know he was more than just a brother, a son, a teacher, or a friend—he was a light. A steady, generous, and radiant soul who gave his all to every person fortunate enough to know him. His presence was a blessing, his guidance a gift, and his heart—immeasurable in size and strength.

As the eldest sibling in a family new to this country, Ralphy shouldered responsibilities beyond his years. With unshakable resolve and quiet grace, he helped raise his siblings, becoming a second parent, protector, and lifelong mentor. From those early acts of care grew his greatest calling—teaching. Whether in a classroom or simply in conversation, Ralphy had the rare ability to inspire. He believed deeply in others, often before they believed in themselves.

His love for art, his passion for education, and his commitment to uplifting those around him were the cornerstones of a life that touched countless hearts. Family, friends, students and strangers alike—all carry a piece of his legacy. He gave without question, he loved without limit and he lived with purpose.

His absence has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, students, and all who knew and loved him. The grief is profound, but so too is the gratitude for having had him in our lives. Ralphy was a loving son, devoted brother and uncle, cherished cousin and nephew, extraordinary teacher, and loyal friend.
