On July 27, 2026, my sister Layla Mullis lost her husband, Peter Mullis, in a tragic hit-and-run accident while he was attempting to cross the street.
Peter was an orthopedic radiographer for Kaiser Permanente, a devoted husband, brother, son, uncle, and friend. Peter and Layla were in the middle of building the life they had dreamed about. Their plans included paying off their home and becoming parents through IVF and raising their first child. After 11years of struggles they finally managed to produce two embryos. At the time of Peter’s sudden death, they were only 20 days away from their first embryo Transfer.
Peter’s death has left Layla grieving not only the loss of her husband, but also the future they were building together. Peter provided approximately 60% of their household income.
Now, while she is trying to process the unimaginable loss of her husband, she is also facing the reality of maintaining their home, navigating the financial responsibilities they shared, and trying to determine whether she can continue the IVF journey they began together.
During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for the love and support of our community to help ease the financial burdens and stress that come with such sudden loss. Donations will go toward helping Layla with healthcare and IVF related expenses as well as securing the home that they worked so hard to lovingly build over the past decade.
Supporting Layla in fulfilling that dream is one way we can help her carry forward the future they envisioned together.
No contribution is too small, and every act of kindness is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please share this fundraiser and keep Layla and all of the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Layla’s embryo transfer date is still scheduled for 8/17/2026.
Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and support as we honor Peter's life and help surround Layla with love during this heartbreaking time.
