Remembering Pat Pelham, Our Friend and Sister
Donation protected
Pat Pelham was a friend, sister, mentor, and leader. She poured her life into the lives of others and causes most dear to her heart. Pat was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the fall of 2020 and underwent surgery to remove it on December 30, 2020. With great foresight, Pat established a Facebook group for family and friends as a means for them to keep up with her recovery. Little did we know that this page would be our last lifeline to her.
Pat remained in the ICU in the days following her surgery. Complications arose but it looked like she was making good progress, sitting up in the chair, calling Linda and Peggy, and celebrating her beloved Ravens win over the Titans on January 10! Just as quickly as renewed strength had come in her recovery, she took a turn and we lost her on January 12, 2021.
Losing such a special person like Pat so unexpectedly, prematurely, and during a pandemic hurts immensely. Pat was a dedicated volunteer and "Mom" in Job's Daughters International, where she served as the Supreme Guardian to over 11,000 female youth leaders around the world. Her heart was always to see her "daughters" rise to their potential and achieve their goals in life! She was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens Football Team and Baltimore Orioles Baseball Team. Her pride and affinity for her homeland, Australia, was always top of mind. She spent her career teaching math at the Baltimore City Community College, and, of special note, working as a programmer at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI). She had an intuitive skill in teaching and mentoring. Her level of patience with others was also a quality we all loved. Pat rooted her life in giving away her knowledge, joy, and hope to us - a faithful friend, committed volunteer, focused teacher, and straightforward leader.

Many have asked how they can help. At this time, we are asking for memorial donations to help in the management of Pat's estate. There are many medical bills and, due to the unexpected nature of her passing, growing funeral and legal expenses. Funds that are given will be used to ensure that her estate can be closed out without any lingering debts. If Pat had any impression on your life, we humbly ask you to give as you can.
Linda D. Chatterton, Pat's executor, is responsible for utilizing these funds in the most dutiful and responsible way. At Linda's request, Leslie Hoglund will be managing the fundraiser. Updates will be provided as we learn more. Please feel free to share this with others who knew Pat. Thank you in advance for your kindness and love.
