Remembering Gowtam Mahabir

Hello everyone,

We are reaching out today under the weight of deep sadness, yet buoyed by the gratitude for the life of a truly remarkable man, our father Gowtam Mahabir. On June 21, 2023, at the age of 79, he peacefully passed away at Holy Cross Hospital.
We were blessed to be with him in his last moments, a solace that he was surrounded by his loving family.

My father was born on January 27, 1944, and lived a life that was nothing short of a testament to the values he held dear. He may have been just one man, but his impact was vast and profound, touching those around him in countless, meaningful ways.

Throughout his life, he was a beacon of wisdom and a pillar of strength. The steadfast love he had for us, the way his eyes filled with joy and pride, his unwavering integrity, all these were characteristics that made my father the extraordinary man he was. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void.

In this sorrowful time, our thoughts turn towards our cherished mother Shirley, a person of boundless courage and strength. Despite losing her sight several years ago, she has always been a source of immense love and inspiration. But the challenges she now faces, especially in the wake of losing her primary caregiver, are substantial.

Our mother's needs have grown exponentially. She will require more assistance in her daily life. His loss has hit her on multiple levels. From basic daily needs and healthcare support, there's a lot we need to sort out.

With that in mind, we've established this page to help offset these anticipated expenses. We aim to make sure that she can live comfortably and safely without the added stress of financial constraints. We wouldn't ask for help unless the need was genuine.

Whether you're able to make a financial contribution, or you can share this fundraiser within your network, we appreciate you immensely. Every bit helps, and each share can make a tremendous difference. We also welcome your thoughts, prayers, and comforting words during these challenging times.

As we navigate this profound loss, we find solace in the love and support we have for each other, and in the memories of a man who touched our lives so deeply. Your kindness and support, in helping my mother through her journey ahead, will honor our father's legacy in the most significant way.

Thank you from the depths of our hearts.
