Hi, I am Betsy, Olivia's sister. Nine years ago, Olivia moved to SoCal to get sober. After a few attempts, she managed to get over 3 years of sobriety. She had a steady job and a lot of friends. Her laughter would put a smile on your face (can you hear it?) but like many alcoholics she relapsed in 2021 and didn't get sober again. In the last year she stayed in her room and drank herself to death. Why didn't we do anything? Well again, if you knew Olivia you knew she always said she was fine. She told me she was sober again. I hadn't seen her in a year. Every time we had plans she canceled them. A few people saw what she was doing to herself and didn't help. Shame on them! I know today that Olivia is doing ok. She is not sick and she is happy to reunite with her parents, and her friends Kai and Chanel. In her short life she touched many people. When she was sober she was bright and funny. The disease of alcoholism killed her. If there is an alcoholic in your life tell them Olivia's story.
If you want to do something we are collecting funds for her final arrangements. If we collect more than we need we will donate the balance to a local recovery home.
There are no plans for a funeral but we will have a memorial in both So Cal and Minnesota...TBD.
