Remembering Nanay: A Life of Love and Joy. A loving tribute.

Waking up to the fact that Heaven gained another angel was an accepting, yet devastating matter for the Sobrepena family. Our sweet and strong Grandmother, Cristina Sobrepena, fought the tough battle of being diagnosed with cancer. Her wish was to live until 94. Nanay was 88. She never complained about her pain. She always had the brightest smile and warmest hugs to give. She was involved in politics, loved gardening, cooking, singing, playing cards with her neighbors, and rocking her gold jewelry that she absolutely loved. She'd seek adventures when she would take care of my brother and I. Whether it was a walk to the store or a walk to an institution for free food, we always enjoyed being by her side growing up. Cristina was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and welcoming friend to many. Her love never went unnoticed. Her ticklish massages, crunchy fried rice, and beautiful singing are something we all will truly miss. Your support to lay our grandma to rest would mean the world to us.
