Remembering Mita: Support for the Lavaki Family

Help Support the Lavaki family After the Loss of Their Son, Samita Alema Lavaki

On Aug 3, our sweet nephew Mita passed away unexpectedly at just 14 years old. He had been living with type 1 diabetes, a condition that brought many hospital visits and challenges throughout his life. Despite it all, he never let it dim his light.

Mita was truly one of a kind—witty, vibrant, and full of love. He had a contagious laugh, a bold spirit, and a gift for making everyone feel like they belonged. Whether he was singing, dancing, whipping up the perfect meal or cracking the perfect joke, he brought joy into every room he walked into. Though he was the youngest of three siblings, he carried a heart bigger than most—always looking out for his family, always unafraid to be exactly who he was.

We’re starting this fundraiser to help his family cover funeral costs and lingering medical bills. Our hope is that this support allows them the space to grieve without the added weight of financial stress.
