Remembering Millie: Daffy's Beloved Owner

Hello Everyone.

This is Ted Mason. I am Millie’s son.

As most of you know, Mom owned Daffy’s on the River for over 30 years.

It is with unbelievable sadness that I share with you all that Mom passed away Wednesday, March 5. She passed peacefully in her sleep, but every day seems to get harder for me. I’m 66 years old now, and I can never remember one argument with Mom my entire life. she was my biggest cheerleader and supported me in all things. I feel I had the greatest mom in the world..

I remember being at Daffy’s on many occasions, and I know I met many of you.

I know the highlight of my mother’s life was Daffy’s and all of the customers and barmaids and others that she would tell me stories about all the time. I apologize for not being more articulate, but I can’t seem to get my head straight as I was just not prepared for this.

I am embarassed to even ask for help, but many health problems have taken a huge toil on me. However, the upside to that was that I was able to be with Mom every day for the last one year and nine months as I brought her up here to Virginia to live with me.

I set up this GoFundMe to see if any of the wonderful customers who knew Mom would possibly want to make a donation to the burial expenses. We are having to fly Mom from Virginia to Natchez, Mississippi,

services will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Saturday, March 15, starting at 1 o’clock with burial at 2 PM.

All who would like to come are more than welcome.

Concerning donations, no amount is too small. Or possibly flowers.

But if it’s too big of a burden, I definitely understand and just want to say thank you for being a friend to Mom and helping fill her life with so much joy and happiness as she so loved Daffy’s and all of her customers.

Thank you all for the love and friendship over all the years to Mom.
