This is Michael Paul Shafer, aka Mikey, aka Mitee Mouse, aka too many silly nicknames from too many friends to count.
He was a dear friend, a loving son, and an utter goofball.
Unfortunately, as many of you know, Mikey’s body was found on August 13th in Monument Valley Creek, leaving behind so much heartbreak and unanswered questions. While we now know where his journey ended, we have yet to find out why and how it happened.
A portion of these proceeds will go to getting some of these answers for Mikey’s family and friends.
It has also now fallen to us as his friends and family to care for Mikey’s mom Tammi, as he cared for her and she cared for him.
It is unimaginable to suffer the loss of a child, and the financial, emotional, and physical burden that comes with that loss is overwhelming. Any burden that we can lift for her is a blessing, and the absolute easiest way to help is to give what we can for a service that might do Mikey and his beautiful life and amazing struggle some justice.
This struggle includes kidney failure, dialysis, a kidney transplant, and a coma; all which he triumphed through. We would also love to donate to the National Kidney Foundation in his name as a tribute.
***This GoFundMe was established with permission from his mother, Tammi Caylor*** I am Michael's best friend and any other donation pages (excluding Tammi’s Venmo) are not approved by his family!
