Remembering Melvina Gauci through Junior's Journey

My name is Junior (Rob) Brown and I currently reside in Wasaga Beach ON. On December 13th, 2017, my sisters, brothers and I lost our mother and my father lost his soulmate to lung cancer.
My mother Melvina Gauci put up quite the fight. At the time of her stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis, she was given 6 months to live. That day was the 2nd hardest day in my life (her gaining her angel wings being the hardest day). Hearing that your mother, your hero had been given a time limit on this Earth was devastating. For those of you who knew my mother, you knew as well as my family and I, that she would fight to her last breath to prove them all wrong and have more time with her husband, children, grandbabies and friends. And she did just that. She fought as hard as Wonder Woman to be with her family another four years.
I have given myself a goal to bike from Brampton, ON. to Sault Ste-Marie, ON. to raise money for the Sault Area Hospital's oncology ward. The hospital and staff took such good care of my mother. I would like to offe them a donation to put towards helping other families with the same love and care as they did for my mom.
My journey will begin at Gage Park in Brampton, ON. Brampton is where my family and I spent most of our lives before my parents relocated to Sault Ste-Marie for work. My mother's last days were also spent there surrounded by her family and friends. My journey will end at the Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste-Marie.
My trip is a total of 678km by bicycle (an estimated 35h in perfect weather conditions). It will take me approximetaly 1 week to reach my destination. My trainning began a few months ago and I am excited to announce my departure date is August 17th, 2019.
