On October 7th, In the early hours of the morning, our beautiful Malikia (Kia) Shah received her angel wings at just 26 years old.

The phone call no parent should ever receive, that their beloved child has tragically and unexpectedly lost their life.

This gofundme is to help relieve the burden of any financial stress for Kia’s family — especially her heartbroken mother, Candice, who is a single mum needing to take time off work to grieve this tremendous loss, and take care of her other children. Even during heartbreak and chaos, the bills never stop.

Who is Kia? for those who never got the privilege of knowing her, let me paint you a picture.

Kia was BEYOND beautiful hearted. She was a fiesty ray of sunshine, with a heart of gold. Pure joy to be around. Anyone who knew Kia would attest to that, no questions asked.

She would quite literally give you the shirt off her back, the shoes off her feet and the last dollar to her name without question because she believed someone else needed it more than she did.

Kia would stop to check in on the homeless to make sure they were warm at night, had something comfy to lay their heads on, had enough water/food and still give them the last of her money, even her phone number knowing she would now be without.

No matter the occasion or if she was in a rush, Kia would run herself late to her destination just to stop, physically sit down and check on the wellbeing of a stranger who was in distress…followed by her big beautiful hugs and offering to call someone for that person in need.

Kia ALWAYS stood up for the underdog, being a voice for those who couldn’t use theirs. The ultimate hype woman, a safe haven and girls girl! She would stand up for what was right and spoke her truth, even if the world was against her.

This past week alone has been a true testament to the MANY people who loved Kia and whose lives she touched, in her 26 years on this Earth. From the endless calls, messages, and support from people near and far. To the many people who have dropped into Kia’s family home to pay their respects to her wonderful mum, Candice, sharing beautiful stories about her baby girl.

This is just an outline of our beloved Kia. I could go on to write many more pages, but you get the idea. Kia will forever be remembered for her heart, her kind freespirit, her loud voice, humour, infectious smile, laughter, and most importantly the ability to light up every room she walked in.
