Hi, my name is Shanika, and I was asked by Malachi’s mother, Holli, to create this GoFundMe page. I created this fundraiser out of love for my family, friends, and community. I am someone who truly believes in showing up for others during life’s hardest moments. When those around me are in need, I do my best to help carry the burden—whether through support, prayer, or action.

This fundraiser is my way of bringing people together to support one another with love, compassion, and unity. Thank you to everyone who gives, shares, and stands with us.

On Christmas Day, our lives were forever changed by the sudden and tragic loss of Malachi James in a car accident that took place in Hartford, CT. A day meant for love, joy, and celebration became a day of unimaginable heartbreak. There are no words that can fully express the pain our family is experiencing.

Malachi was deeply loved and brought light, laughter, and meaning to everyone who knew him. His life was taken far too soon, and our hearts are shattered trying to understand a world without him. To know him was to love him. He was a shining light everywhere he went. As we grieve this devastating loss, we are also faced with unexpected expenses and the overwhelming reality of laying our beloved Malachi to rest.

This GoFundMe has been created to help support his family with funeral and memorial costs, as well as to ease the financial burden during this incredibly painful time.
