Today, our hearts are completely shattered. If you knew my son, Tanner, you knew Lagertha Jones (a.k.a. Laggy). They have been entirely inseparable since she was just a tiny puppy - though she quickly grew into a gorgeous, massive, highly intelligent gentle giant. Laggy was a Malamute-Irish Wolfhound mix.

Their connection was the true, real-life story of "a boy and his dog." They were so deeply attuned to one another that they could read each other’s thoughts with just a glance, and it was truly amazing to witness the silent, effortless communication between them. She was a deeply loved, irreplaceable member of our family.

Laggy was famous for her "Harumph" when she was annoyed or had to get up when she did NOT want to do so. She fit into the family beautifully with her stubborness! If she truly liked you, she would lean her massive weight against you just to be close. She filled Tanner's life with pure devotion, protection, and laughter. And her extended family ('Grandparents' and Aunt and Uncles) loved her immensely.

The Tragic Reality This weekend, Tanner's sweet girl fell critically ill and was rushed to the animal hospital. The veterinary team fought tirelessly around the clock to stabilize her, and he stayed by her side.

Tragically, despite every aggressive medical effort, her body was tired, and Tanner had to face the most heartbreaking choice a pet parent can make. Monday, held in the deepest, most unconditional love, Tanner had to say goodbye to his soulmate and best friend, Laggy, to ensure she was no longer in pain.

While Tanner navigates the blinding grief of losing his companion, he is also left facing a staggering financial reality. The intensive weekend emergency hospitalization, life-support measures, and diagnostic testing reached over $14,000.
