The family of Kristen Hayes are asking for support during this challenging time. Kristen passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 27, 2025 after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia only days prior. Kristen was a fierce fighter and fought valiantly to be a survivor.

Kristen began her career in emergency services in 2009 as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher for Adams County Communications (ADCOM). In 2018, she became the Fire Prevention Specialist and Life Safety Educator for the South Adams County Fire Department. In 2023, Kristen joined the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District as the Community Risk Reduction Specialist, teaching community classes and doing outreach in the communities served. Her outreach about risk reduction and fire safety touched the lives of thousands of people all throughout the country. She was on the executive board as well as served as the president of the Colorado Risk Reduction Network for many years. Her work around the country undoubtedly saved lives of hundreds if not thousands of people through out the United States.

On top of being a renowned arson investigator, fire life safety educator, and community risk reduction specialist, Kristen was an amazing mother of 4, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. Kristen was a bright light and touched many people throughout her life. She will be greatly missed. Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
