It is with a heavy heart that I share the loss of my partner and dear friend, Kevin.
Kevin wasn’t just my partner - NYPD ESU - he was the best partner a girl could ever ask for. Through every challenge, every difficult call, and every uncertain moment, he stood beside me. He was loyal, dependable, and the kind of person you always wanted in your corner.
Kevin dedicated his life to serving others. As an ESU officer, he answered the call without hesitation, including spending countless hours working at Ground Zero after September 11th. He was proud to wear the badge, and he served with courage, honor, and humility.
Last week, following what was expected to be a minor procedure, Kevin suffered a devastating stroke. Doctors were able to surgically remove a clot from his brain, but he never regained consciousness. With unimaginable strength and heartbreaking love, his wife, Maureen, and their children made the selfless decision to keep Kevin comfortable and let him go peacefully.
Kevin was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He could build or fix just about anything and had enough tools to make any contractor jealous. He loved hunting, his camper, his family, his friends, and telling stories that always ended with, “they may be long and boring, but they’re all true.”
Most of all, Kevin loved his family. Maureen wasn’t just his wife - she was his best friend, his partner in life, and the love of his life.
After being forced to retire early because of health issues, Kevin continued doing what he had always done, putting others before himself. He quietly helped his family whenever they needed him, never thinking twice about the sacrifices he was making. Today, I’m asking that we do for Kevin’s family what Kevin would’ve done for any one of us. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to help ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. If you can’t donate, please share this fundraiser and keep Maureen and the entire family in your prayers.
Rest easy, my friend. Thank you for your service, your friendship, and for always having my back. You will never be forgotten.
