Benefit for Kara and Brady

If you have not had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful family, it is quite a shame. The past few years have been devastating and heart breaking. Let’s start from the beginning, Ben and Kara met as teenagers and fell in love 21 years ago. They were blessed with two beautiful children: Kayla and Braden.

Kayla was a sick as a baby; when she was just 3 years old she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF), which is a genetic lung disease that progresses over time. When Ben and Kara had Braden, he was also diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at a young age. If you do not know much about this disease, it calls for round the clock treatments, medicines, constant hospital visits, and care. Kara and Ben were dedicated to doing everything possible so that their children could live the best possible lives.

Kayla was a beautiful soul, much wiser than most with a smile that lit up a room. She loved art, live music, playing guitar, and her dog, Chief. She was the best older sister to Braden. In school, Kayla dealt with bullying and the consequences from frequently missing school due to illnesses and medical appointments. Kayla was a freshman in high school when Ben and Kara decided to homeschool both Kayla and Braden to protect them from germs and try to keep them as healthy as possible. On Easter Sunday 2017, at the young age of 18, Kayla passed away peacefully in her sleep as a result of complications related to CF. Losing Kayla was devastating to everyone who adored her.

While Kayla continued to grow ill, her dad was fighting his own fight. On Braden’s birthday, October 2016, Ben was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer. Ben was willing to fight, in hopes for a victory. Ben, one of the best guys you would ever meet. He mostly kept to himself but there was no doubt he adored his family. Ben had a laugh that no one would ever forget, he was so pure and a hard worker. On Saturday, August 31, 2018, Ben passed away in his home on his 40th birthday. By his side was: his wife, Kara; his son, Braden; and father, Larry. The cancer took over his body but not his soul. He met Kayla and his mom in heaven, we are confident they had the best birthday party!

As you can probably imagine, all of these circumstances have been financially depleting for this family. Kara has been a care taker, teacher, mom, wife, and best friend for the past three years leaving her un-employed due to the uncontrollable illnesses of her family. She now has a house, medical expenses, her son to care for, and life to live, all on her own. Kara and Braden must press forward and need the support to continue to focus on Braden’s health and education. Let’s try to give this amazing lady and her incredible son some support and help ease her some financial struggle at this difficult time.
