In Loving Memory of Jun (Jason) Xu

For those who may not yet have heard the news, our dear friend Jun (Jason) Xu passed away suddenly this past week in a tragic snowboarding accident. While we are devastated over the loss of Jason, we are comforted that he painlessly left this world doing something he loved.
Jason had a special spirit -- he always had the biggest smile, lit up any room he walked into, and touched the lives of countless many. Hailing from Nanjing University in China, Jason came to Long Island as a PhD student at Stony Brook University and later raised his family in South Setauket. Jason played an active part in many communities and always encouraged those around him to do the same.
In his professional life, he dedicated his multi-decade career to progress in science research while serving at Brookhaven National Lab. On the weekends, Jason was a centerpiece at social gatherings, whether it was the local university soccer club, Chinese School, fishing or ski clubs.
Jason was a lively, dynamic, and caring soul. He was a force to be reckoned with - and we were the lucky ones to be a part of his 56 year journey.
Jason would have wanted us to celebrate his life lived, not a life ending. He is survived by his beloved family: wife Ning, son Yuanlong, and daughter Emily. Please join us in loving remembrance of Jason and helping his family as they endure this difficult time.

我们最亲爱的朋友许军在这周一次滑雪运动中头部严重受伤, 而永远的离开了我们。我们每个人都被这个突如其来的噩耗而惊呆悲痛。但是许军毕竟是在他所热爱的运动中离开了这个世界。虽然他只享受了56年的短暂人生，但是他的人生是精彩的和丰富的！
许军是一个非常特别的朋友，他总是用他乐观，热情和积极的精神和态度，帮助和感染着身边的每一个人。
许军大学毕业于中国南京大学，后来来到美国纽约长岛石溪大学获得大气科学博士学位，并就职于美国联邦国家中心实验室（BNL）. 许军长期以来一直活跃于很多社区活动，如石溪中文学校和中国留学生学生会，并且有着广泛的兴趣和爱好，如钓鱼,足球,滑雪等.
同时，许军有一个幸福美满的家庭，贤惠的妻子，还有一对儿女。现在小女儿还在攻读约翰霍普金斯大学（二年级）. 他的突然离去，给这个家庭带来巨大的伤痛和打击，希望他的家人节哀，保重，过好以后的生活。
在这里，我们衷心地希望所有的朋友们，伸出你的援助的双手，献出你的爱心，帮助许军的家人及孩子们度过这段最艰难的岁月，让他们的女儿可以顺利完成学业。
