I, along with Erik Kroll, his publicist; Marquis Wooten, musician; Wes Hart, guitar builder; all friends and fans of JT Carter and Leona Carter, his widow and partner of 50 years; and Keith Goldberg, his loving stepson, want to organize an appropriate Celebration of Life for a man who was special in his talent, generosity to his fellow man, and optimism about life. His charisma endeared him to us and friends and fans.
We are hoping to organize an event reflecting JT as a special human being with musical talent, honoring him and personal stories demonstrating how he touched lives.
JT not only had 5 gold records, but he is credited with organizing the first interracial musical group in the 1950s.
We would like to be able to invite all those, friends and fans, who wish to attend.
Due to both JT and Leona's recent debilitating illnesses, we are asking for your financial support for this celebration.
- If you have ever danced, hummed, or sung along to any of JT's music and want to help memorialize that joy, please help us.
- If you loved that era of music and JT's role in ushering the style that we all hummed to, sang to and danced to and his role in creating a group whose members were based on talent not race, then please contribute to this life celebration. Any size contribhtion is appreciated THANK YOU!
