Honoring Jerry Grohn – Supporting His Family

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend, Jerry Grohn. For over 40 years, he dedicated his life to the game of football and to the young people he mentored, serving as a semi-pro football coach for the Palos/Orland Force, Indoor Professional Coach for the Chicago Slaughter, in Spain for the Villafranca Eagles, a coach at DeLasalle High School, a coach at Andrew High School, a coach at Rich Central High School, a coach at Lockport High School, and for the last 10 years, a devoted coach at Providence Catholic High School. Jerry was a mentor, a leader, and a confidant to countless players, students, and friends.

Known by many as our favorite “Warhead”, Jerry had a unique way of reaching people. He pushed kids to be their best, helping them believe in themselves both on and off the field. He knew how to be firm and disciplined, but he always found a way to bring laughter into the moment - a balance that made him unforgettable to everyone he coached.

Jerry fought a long and courageous battle with cancer, showing the same strength, resilience, and determination that he instilled in so many others throughout his life.

His leadership, passion, and resilience shaped generations. To many he was not just “Coach”- he was a role model, a guiding force, and a lifelong friend. Whether on the field or off, he showed up with consistency, strength, and heart. Even in the roughest of times.

Above all, Jerry had an unwavering love for his family. They were his greatest pride and the center of his world.

As his loved ones navigate this unimaginable loss, we are coming together to support them during this difficult time. Donations will go towards helping his family with the financial burdens that come with such a sudden loss.
