Remembering Jeff and Daniel (Dani) Forever

Dear friends and family of Jeffery Carlton and Tudor Daniel (Dani) Mitroi,

As you all know, we received with deep sorrow the tragic news of the passing of our dear friends Jeff and Daniel in Puerto Rico on March 16th, 2023. Similar to how they lived their lives, they died heroes trying to help people that they dearly loved. This unexpected tragedy has left us all with empty hearts and an immense sadness only amplified by the absence of a proper goodbye.

We all know how much they loved picnics and the outdoors. Izabell Rodriguez, Antonio Turcios and myself (three friends of these wonderful men) have many memories of meeting with them over the years at Christie Pitt's park under a tree or near a picnic table.

In honor of the memory of our dear friends and in the spirit of having a place for us all to go in Toronto to mourn, grieve and remember Jeff and Daniel, and with the blessings of their respective families, we are raising funds to purchase a commemorative bench and tree that will be planted at the park in their honour.

A bench with a plaque and a tree in dedication to them will offer a space where their loved ones can visit and remember them. A place to remember the love, friendship and kindness we all received from Jeff and Daniel.

We understand that they touched people from all around the world and we hope the knowledge that Toronto has this in place to visit will provide some peace, whether it be through a thought of a future visit to see the bench and tree or the knowledge of how much they loved the city and the life they created here.

Once the bench and tree are raised, we will provide all with an update on date, time and exact location for the installation, including photos and videos of them both once installed.

The cost of the newly installed bench with plaque is $2530 and the tree with plaque is $738 (applications already submitted). Any remaining funds after GoFundMe costs are deducted will be used to donate to a Charity in their honor. I will also post details of that when it is completed. If anyone has any suggestions for a Charity they would like, do not hesitate to let us know.
