Support for the Family of James “Shep” Shepherd (aka Jaime Rokkett)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved James Shepherd—known to many in the community as “Shep” or Jaime Rokkett—on July 1, 2025. He was just 53 years old.
James was more than a brother to me—he was the heart of our family. The middle of us three boys, he wore many hats throughout his life: a devoted husband, proud father, loving son, loyal nephew, doting cousin, and a fiercely loyal friend. His presence filled any room he entered, and the impact he had on the people around him will be felt for a lifetime.
Many in our community knew him from his deep love of music and the bonds he built through it. As one friend shared, "Shep loved the music store and the family we created out of it. Always reminisce about the past." Others remember him for his selflessness, always showing up with a smile, always saying, "I’m there."
Another tribute said it best:
"You will forever be in our hearts. Kiss & hug mama for me and tell her I miss her. Love you, RIH."
We are currently making arrangements for his funeral and memorial services, and while the dates are still being finalized, we know that many have reached out asking how they can help. This GoFundMe was created as a way for friends, loved ones, and members of the community to support us during this time—not only to assist with funeral expenses, but also to support the family as we grieve and plan the days ahead.
Any amount helps, and every gesture of support is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your prayers, your messages, and for standing with us during this painful time. Shep may be gone, but the love he shared lives on in all of us.
Rest in Heaven, bro. You are missed more than words can express.
With love and gratitude,
