On the morning of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, our beloved Ivan Garza was tragically taken from us in a hit-and-run accident. He was only 25 years old. Ivan was a proud Delano native, a graduate of Robert F. Kennedy High School, and a former offensive lineman at Sacramento State. He helped lead Kennedy High School to a Central Section Championship and later earned All-Big Sky honors at Sacramento State. But beyond his accomplishments on the football field, Ivan will be remembered for the person he was—a gentle giant with a kind heart, an infectious smile, and a genuine love for his family, friends, teammates, and everyone fortunate enough to know him.

His sudden passing has left his mother, Sandra, and their entire family heartbroken. No family is ever prepared for a loss like this, and in addition to the overwhelming grief they are carrying, they are now faced with unexpected funeral expenses and the financial challenges that come with such a devastating tragedy. We are asking for your support to help ease this burden so Sandra and her family can focus on honoring Ivan’s life, celebrating his memory, and beginning the difficult journey of healing.

Sandra is my 1st cousin and has asked me to handle all things gofundme for her including paying the funeral expenses. The ones that knew Ivan, knew he was a big guy which led to extra expenses at the funeral home because of his size. We have also made arrangements for a Saturday funeral so all would be able to attend which also led to a higher cost. Anything extra I will have transfered from my bank to Sandra and her girls for the time off of work that they need to mourn Ivan.
