Help Us Honor K9 Henzo’s Legacy

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

We’re reaching out during a very difficult time to ask for your support in honoring the life and service of a true hero—Retired Police K9 Henzo.

Henzo was more than just a working dog—he was family. My sister Erin was blessed to call him her partner and best friend. They served side by side at two different agencies for over six years, building an unbreakable bond through courage, loyalty, and unconditional love. Erin adopted Henzo in 2018 after the passing of his first beloved handler, Max—her co-worker and best friend. Together, she and Henzo carried on Max’s legacy.

After retiring in 2023, Henzo enjoyed two peaceful years surrounded by love, having already once beat cancer. Sadly, a few nights ago, his health took a sudden turn. He showed signs of distress, and Erin rushed him to the emergency vet. What they discovered was far worse then expected—Henzo was bleeding internally.

The emergency team worked tirelessly to stabilize him with X-rays, bloodwork, and a transfusion. The only hope was surgery, and Erin made the brave decision to try—because if it had been his spleen, they may have been able to save him. But once inside, the surgeon found multiple tumors on his liver, spleen, and surrounding tissue. The bleeding couldn’t be stopped. The most humane choice was to let him go peacefully while still under anesthesia.

We are all heartbroken. Erin did everything she could—guided by love, loyalty, and hope. The total emergency vet bill came to $4,700, a heavy burden to carry in the midst of so much grief. We are asking for help to ease that burden.

If you knew Henzo, or if you simply understand the depth of love we hold for our animals—especially one who served with such bravery—please consider donating or sharing a kind word of encouragement.

Henzo was a hero. He protected many, gave his whole heart to his people, and left this world surrounded by love and dignity. Let’s come together to honor him.
