Remembering Heather Leitzell Sweigart
Scott Sweigart has been a childhood friend of mine since kindergarten at Lawnton Elementary School. We have been friends for over 48 years. Not only has he been a true friend to so many, but he has also shown us all the true definition of a loving, supportive, and dedicated husband to his wife Heather.
On March 20, 2012 his family's life was changed forever. His beautiful wife Heather had Crohn's Disease and had suffered a perforation in her large intestine and went into septic shock. Since that day Heather has stayed in 14 different medical facilities and spent almost 5 of the last 9 years in and out of the hospital. Scottie and his family have been through so much that they had to relocate to Ohio so she could get the proper care she needed from the Cleveland Clinic after her transplant procedure.
Sadly many hearts are broken over the loss of Heather Leitzell Sweigart who passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 5:15 pm.
Heather was not only a wife, mother, daughter sister, aunt and friend, she was an INSPIRATION too so many! She had endured so much pain and suffering in the last 9 years of her life undergoing 27 surgeries and numerous hospital stays that kept her away from her family. I myself can say that I have never witnessed someone with so much beauty, courage, strength and determination to keep fighting to live as much as we have witnessed Heather to do so.
Though there are not enough words or actions to provide comfort for Scottie and Olivia during this most difficult time of their lives. If you are in a position to help in providing Scottie some financial support for Heather’s final burial expenses and any other costs incurred that he may be faced with it would be greatly appreciated. If you can’t please continue to send prayers to the family.
Scottie and Liv - Thank you for sharing Heather’s journey with all of us. She will be missed.
May she be pain free and at peace now.
God Bless
