Remembering G-143, Supporting Trooper Glenn
Donation protected
On April 7th 2017, our world as we knew it forever changed. It was the last day Brandon would ever check off from 3rd shift as a Trooper on the North Carolina Highway Patrol and the last time I would be able to speak to him on this side of eternity. While his death shook his family, friends, and community to the core, it came as no surprise to Brandon’s Savior, Jesus Christ, that his race was finished that day. I didn’t expect that day to become a widow and single mom to our three-year-old baby girl at the time, but the Lord knew that was our story and would go before and provide in ways I could never begin to explain. In those darkest moments, we saw thousands of people step up to love, pray and provide for us in more ways than could ever be spoken. Whether it was a complete stranger or some of our closest and dearest friends or family, we got to personally see what it was like for people to live out being the hands and feet of Jesus to us in spiritual, emotional and practical ways. We will forever be grateful and pray the Lord will bless each of you in ways only He can.
Brandon was the kind of person who never wanted the attention or spotlight on him. While that is a quality I will forever admire, I also believe in always remembering him and, more importantly, remembering the Lord's goodness during that time in our life. I think he would want us to use what happened to him as an opportunity to love someone else. Many people may not know this, but Brandon was friends with Kevin Glenn long before either of them ever considered becoming troopers. Brandon started on the patrol before Kevin but quickly offered support as Kevin began his career on the NCSHP. Both Brandon and Kevin were known for loving the Lord first; their family second and thirdly would be known as troopers who worked hard, never passed up a drunk driver and cared for their communities.
December 14, 2021, Trooper Kevin Glenn was shot in Yancey County while assisting an allied law enforcement agency during a vehicle pursuit. This shot hit the side of his cheek and exited the back of his neck. By all accounts, that day could have been Kevin’s last day as a Trooper, however by the grace of God, he experienced serious but non life threatening injuries. Kevin experienced what the harsh reality of the dangers and sacrifices made daily by law enforcement officers and their families is. One that he didn’t take lightly. Kevin has a precious wife and three children that lived through December 14th with him. While everyone is beyond thankful and recognizes the true miracle Kevin is, it doesn’t take away the fear, trauma or recovery from the experience.
It is hard to believe it will be five years since Brandon’s End of Watch and Homegoing with our Lord. In some ways, it seems like it just happened and in others seems like it has been a lifetime, but we felt strongly about not missing the opportunity to remember Brandon by loving on Trooper Kevin Glenn and his sweet family. To do this, we are asking for donations to send Kevin’s family on an all-expense-paid trip. All of the proceeds will be given directly to his family to allow them to take a trip when they feel they are ready to do so. There are indeed no words to express the gratitude for Kevin, his family, and the sacrifices that have been made to keep our community safe. While we know they would never ask for this and a trip won’t just take away the trauma they have been through it is our hope it could provide some healing and family memories that will last a lifetime. The reality is that not only has Kevin suffered an injury, but his wife and children have gone through the entire experience with him and will be there still supporting him as he works towards being able to go back to work full time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to every person reading this who will love, pray or donate to funding this opportunity for Kevin and his family. We hope that this will not only remind you of Brandon, but will also remind you to pray for our law enforcement, take time to encourage them, and, most importantly, make sure you can live with hearts of Hope because of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
