Remembering Dorothy: Support Her Loved Ones

Dorothy M. Shaul, 73, of Bradley, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

She was born March 6, 1951, in Kankakee, the daughter of Bernum F. and Helen L. (Borggren) Backus. On July 7, 2007, she married Bradley B. Shaul on the river in Momence, Illinois. She was a CNA at Riverside Medical Center. She participated in various religious charity events, Awanas Youth Group, the Vermillion Valley Show Choir and plays at River Valley Christian Fellowship. She attended multiple churches throughout Kankakee County. Dorothy enjoyed playing with her dogs, bicycle rides, walks, and bible study. She liked playing games and pickleball. She also loved to sing and loved her barber shop quartet. Most of all she enjoyed time with her grandchildren and lovingly putting up with her husband, Brad.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband, Bradley B. Shaul of Bradley; step-son, Jeremy (Liz) Shaul of Mokena; six grandchildren, RayAnne (Ray), RyLeigh, Mason, Preston, Bennett, and Ally; sisters, Shirley O’Connor of Momence and Joan (Joe) O’Brien of Momence; sisters-in-law, Carol (James) Tiller of Steger and Fran (Richard) Perkins of Muncie, IN; nieces and nephews, Liane, Stephen, Karen, Alan, Jean, Joshua, Justin, and Ezra; great nieces and nephews, Taylor, Matthew, and Rachel; great nieces and nephews, Ty, Jacob, Zach, Ping, as well as 14 great greats; furbabies, Molly and Buster.

She is preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Eldon and Mabel Shaul; brother-in-law, Denny Shaul; and nephew, Seth. Dorthy passed away suddenly and unfortunately without life insurance. These funds will be going to help cover the costs of the service as well as any hospital costs.
