Mira Mesa Sapphire Sound has lost a wonderful “band dad” to cancer.  Don Moore stood on the parent booster board as Refreshments, and took the responsibility to heart.  In his role, he cooked for and served 220+ kids and staff meals during the 2019 band season.  Don also headed Hospitality during our last home comp, feeding and curating a gorgeous spread for educators, volunteers, directors, and dedicated hours of time to cooking for countless band fundraisers.  As all the best band parents do, Don would jump from his appointed role to “whatever you need me to do” band dad, but feeding the kids was what he loved.  So much so, that when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung & brain cancer, he called his band counterpart to apologize for not being able to be part of the next season.  

Don, your smile, eagerness to help, and love for the kids and program will surely be missed.
