Remembering Divine: A Brother's Legacy

My name is Jade and this is my little brother Divine. Divine was charismatic, witty, intelligent, poetic, thoughtful, and everything I could have asked for in a little brother. It did not matter that we don’t share the same bloodline; I am beyond proud to have known him, loved him, and learned from him. Unfortunately, and with the heaviest heart, he has passed away. This is the most unreal, heartbreaking, unexpected thing that is devastating our family. Divine was the most helpful, giving, and thoughtful kid I’ve ever known; proud is an understatement.

In June, we were planning on celebrating his graduation, and today we are mourning his loss. We have no answers as of yet; there is so much in the air, and we are in the earliest stages of this process. But if there is anything Divine has taught me, it is to lock in and prepare. We are not a family of much means, and it honestly sickens me to have to take this step in such a difficult situation. If there is anything you all could do to take one less thing off our plate as we navigate this experience, it would be deeply appreciated, and if you can’t, a prayer is welcomed as well!
